"Bad Penny", 375th Bomb Squadron. Lt. James H. Henderson was piloting the 'Bad Penny' on a return trip to Chengkung from Chabua along with three other aircraft when they encountered wing icing. An hour and a half into the trip Lt. Henderson radioed he was returning to Chabua, but did not state the problem. No more was heard from the plane nor the five men aboard.

"Beeline Betty", B-24L of the 374th Bomb Squadron.


"Betty G", Bomb Squadron. She crashed on 24 April, 1943, about six miles from Chabua, probably due to carburetor icing. Three crewmen killed and three others seriously injured.

"Doodlebug", Bomb Squadron. Probably the 308th aircraft with the most Hump flights. In addition to the eleven bomb mission symbols and the ten Jap flags (aircraft shot down), 'Doodlebug had 120 snow-capped mountain symbols stenciled on her, representing 120 trips over the HUMP!
