      Constituted the 36th Reconnaissance Squadron (Heavy) on 28 Jan 1942, the unit was activated on 15 Apr.

      Redesignated the 425th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) on 15 Apr 1942.   The squadron was assigned to the 308th Bombardment Group throughout its WW II existence.

      The 425th was inactivated on 6 Jan 1946.
